PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL

MINUTES

AUGUST 14, 2007

 

Attendance: Gary Schluep, Richard Lester,Frances Dettwiller, Chyane Collins, Katie Paugh, Barb Hidy, Dale Hidy, Alanna Barberry, Kristy Bockrath, Kadie Knowles,Fr. Frank.  Guest: Mary Lou Schluep.

 

ST.VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

A report was given by Chyane Collins.  She stated the informal meeting on 8/12/07 was a success with about 40 people in attendance.  She gave an overview of how the St. Vincent de Paul Society serves a community. They are looking for places to store items.  Parish Council approved of the St. Vincent de Paul Society be apart of St. Benignus Church.

 

BUILDING AND GROUNDS

Barb reported Durable Slate from Columbus gave a bid of  $4,800 for the flashing and 1,800 for the slat.  Bud Clouser from Wilmington can do the flashing for $1,675.  Parish Council gave Bud Clouser the bid for doing the flashing and Durable Slate the bid for repairing the slat roof.

It was also mentioned part of the end post  at the cemetery needs to fixed. There is also a lot of poison ivy growing on the cemetery grounds.

 

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Katie reported 16 children attended Vacation Bible School. 

Registration is not going well for religion classes.

Classes start Sept, 7.  We still need teachers for grades 3,4,5,6,7. and 8.

 

LADIES AUXILLIARY

Kristy said the Wheels of Progress booth made about $500.

They would like to have moveable cabinets along the back wall of the kitchen in the  Parish Center.  They would like this to help store equipment and serve meals at Parish functions.  September starts meetings for the Ladies Auxillarry.

 

CHRISTIAN SERVICES

St, Vincent de Paul Society

 

WORSHIP

The organ has been fixed free of charge

 

SOCIAL AND FELLOWSHIP

Will start in September.

 

FINANCE

Father gave went over the financial report.

Eric Givens will go over it in September with the entire Parish.

 

NEW BUSINESS

Barb will look into getting new locks and keys for the Parish Center.

We will look into having 2 greeters at the doors 20 minutes before mass.

On Sept, 2 we will have a Picnic after the Spanish Mass.

Windows from the Church will be auctioned off at our October Fest.
